8-Hour California CCW Renewal Certification
Renew your California CCW permit with Millennia Defense’s 8-hour Riverside County / LAPD CCW Renewal Course. This course is designed for current CCW permit holders who need renewal training for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, LAPD, or applicable California CCW renewal requirements.
This one-day course includes classroom instruction, legal updates, firearm safety review, concealed carry responsibilities, and live-fire qualification.
Students must safely handle, manipulate, and qualify with each handgun they want listed on their CCW permit.
Course Overview
This course includes:
- Firearm safety and pistol fundamentals
- California firearms laws
- Concealed carry mindset and responsibility
- Methods and principles of concealed carry
- Legal use of force and post-incident considerations
- Safe storage, transportation, and handling
- Live-fire qualification with each listed firearm
Riverside County CCW Renewal Information
Maximum firearms allowed on Riverside County CCW: 6 handguns
Students must qualify with each firearm they want listed on their CCW permit.
Riverside County Live-Fire Qualification
Students will complete a live-fire qualification using a standard B-27 target.
Course of fire:
- 6 rounds per stage
- Distances: 15 yards, 10 yards, and 7 yards
- Each handgun must be fired and scored
Passing requirement:
Students must score 70% or higher with each handgun used for qualification.
After successfully passing the shooting qualification, students will receive a completed qualification form.
LAPD CCW Renewal Qualification
Students completing LAPD CCW renewal qualification will use an NRA standard B-27 target.
First Firearm
72 total rounds:
- 24 rounds at 3 yards
- 24 rounds at 5 yards
- 24 rounds at 7 yards
Passing requirement:
Students must score 70% or higher at each distance within the 7-ring of the B-27 target.
Students must also safely load, unload, and reload their handgun during the course of fire.
Additional Firearms
20 total rounds per additional firearm:
- 10 rounds at 5 yards
- 10 rounds at 7 yards
Passing score remains 70% at each distance within the 7-ring.
What to Bring
Students must bring:
- Firearms to be listed on CCW
- 200 Rounds of ammuniton
- No steel-cased ammunition
- Quality holster: IWB or OWB, Kydex recommended
- Rigid gun belt: leather or nylon
- At least 2 magazines per firearm
- Proper range attire
Firearm and Gear Requirements
- Red dot optics are permitted
- Prohibited holsters: Serpa holsters
- All firearms must be transported unloaded in a locked, secure container
- Do not arrive with a loaded or concealed firearm
- All firearms will be inspected at registration
Important CCW Application Notice
This course satisfies the required training component for CCW renewal, but it does not replace the application process with your issuing agency.
Students are responsible for submitting their CCW renewal application through the appropriate agency, such as the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department or LAPD.
Optional Add-On: Arizona Non-Resident CCW Permit
Students may add the Arizona Non-Resident CCW Permit packet at checkout.
An Arizona Non-Resident CCW may expand your carry options while traveling outside California. Reciprocity rules vary by state and can change, so students are responsible for confirming current laws before carrying outside California. Arizona DPS also advises permit holders to confirm recognition and follow each state’s laws before carrying.

The Arizona CCW permit is valid for five years.
